According to legend, Russian leather first appeared in the days of the tsars. After galloping across the endless steppes of Russia, a Cossack warrior gathered round a campfire at dusk with his comrades. He then had the idea of rubbing his leather boots with birch bark to make them waterproof. This released an extraordinary scent that immediately enchanted all the horsemen.
